Kameeldoring hardwood has an extremely low moisture content of around 1-2% due to it baking in the African sun. It has a fragrant musky smell and produces extremely hot and long lasting coals.  It is the number one hardwood used for a braai/bbq as well as a log/wood burner & fireplace.

The kameeldoring pods are highly nutritious and are eaten during the dry season by livestock and large native herbivores such as the elephant, black rhino, gemsbok, eland, greater kudu, and of course, giraffe. Seeds are dispersed through animal droppings and may lay dormant for up to 50 years without losing their viability.
